All The Money In The World..For Men Anyway

January 11th, 2018

The news that actress Michelle Williams received the AFTRA-SAG minimum of $80 per day while Mark Wahlberg got $1.5 million for reshooting “All The Money In The World” makes me insane. The irony is so rich; the re-shoot was necessary because a man, Kevin Spacey, was using sex as power, and was caught. So the producers threw him out of the film, that’s good, but then paid Michelle Williams a thousand times less than Wahlberg. And the truth is this; she’s a much better actor than Wahlberg. She acts circles around most men, as she did in Manchester By The Sea. And this part really pisses me off; in the spirit of the #metoo movement, at first she offered to shoot for free, but the producers wouldn’t let her. The union said she needed to be paid that $80 bucks.

Wahlberg has a racist background, he committed a hate crime as a younger man, and now wears his religion on his sleeve. But my real beef is with the other men. The ones in the shadows. One can only hope that their time is up.
