Barr: Some Things Never Change

Chip Franklin

Attorney General Bill Barr isn’t going anywhere. The recent spate of protests regarding Trump’s tweets, directed at DOJ prosecutors, brought forth a series of whimpers and whines, supposedly from Barr, threatening to resign should Trump continue being Trump.

It’s all a lie.

Barr’s ploy might be to assert a speckle of independence from inside Trump’s inner circle, but that dog has barked. The Attorney General, who as Bush 41’s AG in the 80’s orchestrated the pardons for the Iran-Contra tribe; Republicans who sold arms to Iran and used the money to fund the Contras in an illegal war, isn’t in the midst of an epiphany. He’s the same creep, with his Deputy Dawg jowls listing to and fro while the lies march out in goose-step precision. He lied about the Mueller report, and now he’s allowing Trump’s henchmen to refuse House subpoenas for documents and testimony.

Barr is not the Attorney General, but instead Trump’s consigliere, having knocked the bumbling Rudy from that gig. He has allowed the DOJ to become Trump’s legal army, allowing Donnie Five Chins to fire any government official who dares to cross him. The idea that he would resign implies that he is anything but as advertised, a weaselly sycophant willing to do anything to survive.

Barr isn’t going anywhere, Trump will keep tweeting, and the decay will continue until the American public finds its voice.
