Libertarians Need To Wake Up

Chip Franklin

My realization after riding this train after 9/11 thru the 2008 crash is there is no such thing. The truth is we are a great country, not because of business, but because of the great government programs that created a competitive playing field.
I know, having lived in DC for most of my life and starting businesses that, without regulatory bodies, could have never been successful. The big lie that conservatives tell, mostly to themselves, is that fewer regulations means more freedom. And if they are referring to the top 5%, they’re right.

But the truth is businesses aren’t people, and are only beholden to their bottom line. And that’s not what the architects of our constitution had in mind. How do I know? They said it out loud. They wrote it down. It’s ok to be a country that is part capitalist and part socialist because we’ve already been that way the last 200 years.

That’s just one reason why single payer healthcare plans would be great for America. They would encourage small businesses who can’t afford healthcare to go out and create more productivity and a greater GNP.
Everything I just said is true.
