The War On Christmas? Sign Me Up!

Chip Franklin

Spoiler alert: Santa is “Fake News.”

I’m kidding of course, although in this political climate, who knows?
How did Christmas get so complicated? I love Christmas, but I still say Holidays. Not because I’m afraid of offending
my Jewish, Muslim, or Christian friends; I say “Happy Holidays” just to tweak Republicans who think I’m being PC.
They claim that’s there’s a war on Christmas, but war is a strong word.

“War” is when I’m Christmas shopping and someone steals my parking space.

The FOX and Friends pathetic play to Christians, frightening them with visions of pagans stealing their holy day, reenforces my disdain for the non-seculars and their saber-rattling defense of a holiday that’s not even theirs. The winter solstice has a couple thousands years on the Christmas holiday. Thats the truth, not a war.

One final point. Last year I was buying a Christmas tree and the guy said, “Happy Holidays.” I said, “I think it’s safe to say “Christmas”
to someone buying a ‘Christmas’ tree.” He said his boss is an atheist, the boss’s wife is Jewish, and he was Muslim.

I went home and drank some egg nog.
