The Washington Post and Trump’s Small Hands

Chip Franklin

The Washington Post has been on the front lines of a political battle with a President before, but has acknowledged that these are unique times. Tweets, Facebook, Russian bots and Trump’s own Pravda, FOX news, have made it even harder, not to accurately report the news, but to battle Trump’s claims to the contrary. Almost daily, the President attacks newspapers, networks and even journalists by name, calling them liars and their reports fake. It has been a difficult adjustment for all journalists.

But there are signs that Trump’s insanity is starting to wear thin. His constant attacks on “fake news” has even worn down some at FOX News and other former supporters like the rabid, right wing former congressman Joe Walsh, who tweeted,

“This attack by @FoxNews & Republicans on Robert Mueller’s integrity is despicable. And don’t tell me you’re just attacking the investigation, not Mueller. Bullshit. It’s HIS investigation. When u call it a witchhunt, you’re blaming him. Bob Mueller has always put America first..”

CNN, The Washington Post and The New York Times all have award winning journalists who are more than fair, and have been bi-partisan in their reporting. I know. I read them all and it occasionally pisses me off when they are fair. This president and his spokes-holes, Spicer, Conway, and now Sanders, all lie without as much as a smirk. Trump derides both elected officials thru-name calling and outright falsehoods, and never corrects his deceits and obfuscations when confronted. And oh yeah, this sociopath has the nuclear codes.

Which brings me to the Washington Post’s Dave Weigel. Weigel is a good reporter who tweeted a photo of the Pensacola hall where Trump was speaking as it was filling up, thus giving the impression that it wasn’t full. When brought to his attention, Weigel deleted the tweet and the picture. It was a mistake that was corrected and an apology was proffered immediately. That’s how professionals work.

Trump however, lost his mind. The Post reporter inadvertently tweaked Trump’s Freudian preoccupation with size, and now finds himself in Trump’s crosshairs. And as he has done before, Trump wiped his ass with the first amendment and called for Weigel’s firing.

The Washington Post needs to stand behind their reporters and encourage aggressive reporting. And for Mr Weigel and other hard working scribes; leave the heavy work for me. Because I can say Donald Trump has a small penis every day and he can’t touch me. Because it’s really small.
