TSA: The Force Hates You

Chip Franklin

The Force is confused.

“It could create concern that it’s the real thing,” TSA spokesperson Jim Gregory. Except that it’s a toy.

The TSA has banned a souvenir from Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge themed land. That’s right. The toy has been banned in both checked bags and carry-ons for looking too much like a weapon. The TSA said “if our officers discover a replica item during screening and believe it’s real, the item will be treated as such until advised otherwise by law enforcement.”

Do they really think it’s a grenade?

Other passengers have said they had no problem passing through security with the empty soda bottles, which visitors to the Disney themed exhibit are keeping as souvenirs.

But here’s the kicker, and only slightly ironic; the bottles are banned, but the most iconic Star Wars collectible?  The TSA is allowing  lightsabers in both checked bags and in carry-ons.
