What You Don’t Know…
Trump is dangerous. That may seem like old news, but the latest epidemic of Coronavirus has Trump amping up the volume. He recently accused MSNBC and CNN of “panicking markets” while bragging “USA in great shape!”
I hope he’s right about the shape of our country. But the numbers don’t support his optimism.
Here’s what we know; it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
Here’s what we don’t know. We don’t know how you catch it, the duration, the severity, potential vaccines, whether or not it has asymptomatic transmission, how many people currently are infected, and most importantly, the fatality rate.
Trump has restricted the CDC and other government agencies from releasing information before it is reviewed by Pence and his cabal of Trump sycophants, desperately attempting to protect the markets for Trump’s reelection hopes. That is a mistake, and has dangerous consequences. We need leadership and facts, not sociopaths and lies.
Those of us in the media need to ignore Trump’s obfuscations and let scientists and epidemiologists lead the way. Up until now, Trump’s thousands of lies were difficult to track, and eventually became white noise. But the volume is increasing, and the stakes have never been higher.
